CHRISTMAS LIST PICK: Harrods unveils $1.6 million luxury whiskey set by Dalmore

London’s luxury department store Harrods has unveiled a $1.6 million whisky set, which it prides as “the masterpiece of a lifetime.”
“Housed in a bespoke wooden cabinet by Gavin Robertson, the collection is accompanied by a unique, hand written ledger book that capture’s Paterson’s every thought and step on the way to creating the collection,” Harrods says in its website description. “Each page of the ledger has been individually foiled in silver with Paterson’s signature and bound in a bespoke calfskin leather book, while the handcrafted crystal decanters by Glencairn have been adorned with hand-engraved silver by luxury jewelers, Hamilton & Inches.”
Richard Paterson, master distiller of the Dalmore distillery in Alness, Scotland, said he raided “the incredibly rare and valuable stocks that we nurture up in Alness” to create the 12 unique bottles of whiskey, each of which is named for someone who has influenced him in his life, the Telegraph reported.
“The Dalmore Paterson Collection,” which has just gone on display in the Fine Spirits Room at Harrods, contains a vintage whisky from 1926 dedicated to Dalmore founder Alexander Matheson, the Daily Mail reported.
“It represents the lifetime’s work of one of the whisky industry’s most dedicated, respected and loved characters,” a Harrods spokesman told the Telegraph. “Whoever buys this will own a truly unique collection of whiskies as well as a little bit of Richard himself, as he has put so much into its creation.”
